How to Pick the Best NLP Seminar for You
How do you know which NLP seminar is best for you?
There are a variety of different NLP seminars/Neurolinguistic Programming seminars. The question is, which do you attend? With all the training programs on the market, which best fits your criteria?
NLP is really a meta-discipline – in other words, a discipline that can be applied to a variety of other disciplines, whether it's to be a better business person, salesperson, parent, athlete, teacher, coach or therapist. How you would like to apply NLP, and the depth in which you wish to learn it, will determine what type of training is best for you.
There are commonly two types of NLP seminars. The first is known as Practitioner Training. Practitioner training provides a foundation of NLP training that tends to be more general in its approach and be more of a ‘life skills’ class.
The next phase — Master Practitioner training — builds on the foundation of Practitioner training by helping students take their NLP skills to the level of mastery.
Both the Practitioner and Master Practitioner training are typically anywhere from 4 days to 3 weeks in length, depending on how consolidated the training is. This training is for people who really would like to get an in-depth understanding of NLP and would like to learn a variety of powerful skills with multiple applications.
Additionally, another type of NLP seminar pertains to specific applications of NLP. This may include targeted neuro linguistic programming seminars on persuasion and influence skills, increasing self-esteem using NLP, using NLP with children, wealth creation, increasing creativity with NLP, goal setting, etc. These tend to be 1 or 2 day events. They typically focus on teaching a very specific application of NLP and concentrate less on an in-depth understanding of NLP as a generalized discipline.
The following is a list of questions to ask when registering for a Neurolingustic Programming seminar (NLP seminar):
1) How long is the training?
2) What is the specific topic or application of NLP?
3) Who are the trainers? How have they applied NLP in real-world circumstances?
4) What training materials and support are provided?
5) Where is the training being conducted? Is it close to your home or will it require more travel?
6) Is the seminar based on ‘real life’ applications of NLP, or is it more academic and theoretical in its approach?
7) What is the training company’s philosophy regarding the way training and learning should take place?
Remember, the best neuro lingustic programming seminars are about the acquisition of useful skills and the creation of measurable change. They focus on ‘real-world’ applications of NLP, rather than abstraction and theory. This is really how NLP can make the biggest difference in the world, by being the usable, powerful technology it was meant to be.
