Progressive Conditioning NLP Techniques
Progressive conditioning NLP is a very effective strategy...
When NLP is combined with progressive conditioning and conditioning, it can create a powerful means of creating change. Through progressive conditioning you can install a belief, attitude or new behavior at a much slower pace and then gradually increase the amount of exposure to that new belief, attitude or behavior. This allows the brain to adjust to the new belief, attitude or behavior much more gradually, rather then it being a sudden shock to the system.
An example of this would be a salesperson that has a fear of presenting and as a result is reluctant to make a live sales presentation. Rather then just forcing them to go out and make a presentation immediately after training, they would be allowed to role-play with their manager, then go on some sales calls with their manager while their manager conducts the sales presentation.
After a few sales calls, they gradually begin presenting a larger and larger portion of the sales presentation themselves. This conditioning NLP approach allows the brain to gradually adjust to the new beliefs, attitude or behavior rather than being “shocked” or “jolted” into a new behavior.
The advantage of progressive conditioning NLP is that it allows new beliefs and behaviors to be installed more naturally. This process helps overcome and override the unconscious mind’s built-in survival mechanism, which can create a natural resistance to change.
When progressive conditioning is combined with NLP and hypnosis powerful change can be created within an individual that is long-lasting. The principles of progressive conditioning can be applied to a variety of areas from sports to therapy to stress management. It has also been shown to work extremely successfully in animal training.
Finally, practicing the new beliefs, attitudes or behaviors over and over again can increase conditioning. While NLP and hypnosis can help dramatically increase the speed in which you install a new belief or attitude, by doing something repeatedly for 21 days you will help “hard-wire” it into your nervous system.
Then you can begin to reduce the number of times to two or three times a week, every other week for 3 months, eventually reducing the reinforcement exercises to once a month and then reducing it to every other month.
Keep these ideas in mind next time your trying to create change either in yourself, a client or a trainee. Progressive conditioning NLP is a powerful combination for creating lasting change.
